Archaeological Modelling

Archaeological Overview Assessment (AOA)

When no or too little relevant knowledge is available for a specific area, archaeologists will use theoretically informed variables and parameters, usually drawn from geology, geomorphology, hydrology and ecology, to generate Archaeological Predictive Models (APM) and, if necessary, Archaeological Sensitivity Models (ASM, which focus on possible natural and anthropogenic agents of disturbance).

These models rely on interdisciplinarity and are components of the Archaeological Overview Assessment (AOA), which will serve to guide further archaeological work that you may need.

Approximate timeline: will depend on the size of the study area and on the complexity of the models.
